Oppo & OnePlus With Wireless Charging Soon In 2019

Oppo has joined the Wireless Power Consortium, which shows that its future smartphone can come with wireless charging. Wireless Power Consortium is a group of companies that develops and promotes one of the most popular wireless charging technologies in the Qi wireless charging standard in the market. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Samsung, Apple, Sony, Huawei, Panasonic and ZTE have been involved in working and developing on Qi Charging collectively. Considering sharing OPPO and OnePlus key technologies with each other, the presence of Oppo in the Consortium also indicates that the future OnePlus flagship is also likely to come with technology.

According to a report by ChargerGab, it is not clear when the company has decided to join the group. But this move of OPPO is likely to cause shock in the Asian market as the device maker is currently fourth in the market with 8.4 per cent market share in this area. This gives the possibility of taking wireless charging seriously and bringing in their smartphone lineup, along with Xiaomi and other Chinese smartphone manufacturers. Wireless charging technology has gradually gained traction in the world of technology while moving towards the future without any star.

Similar to super-VOOC and VoOc charging techniques in wired charging, it may be possible that OPPO has something in his sleeve that he can present in the group. However, it is unlikely that OPPO would like to keep that technology unique to its Oppo and OnePlus device.

The consortium was formed in 2008 with the goal of making the universal charging standard. According to the report, a manufacturer has to be a part of the Wireless Power Consortium, which is capable of making Qi-certified smartphones and charging accessories.
